This fine young woman's head in the neoclassical taste belongs in the artistic movement of the years 1780-1810, as expressed by its hieratic character, deliberately distant from the joyous and gallant sculpture of the years 1760-1780.

We can compare this head to the production all'antica of the Roman sculptor Bartolomeo Cavaceppi (1716-1799), especially his terracottas in the Palazzo Venezia. It is also close to the early style of Chinard.

Acccidents visible to the rear, lacks in the hairs. Beautiful Turquin blue marble base.

France or Italy circa 1780-90

Height with marble base: 16 cm - Height: 23.5 cm
