Beautiful and rare little sketchbook of the middle of the eighteenth century containing thirty-eight leaves of drawings expressing the research of a yet unidentified artist, alternating anatomical details, small portraits after nature and various scenes. Some sketches probably by a later, weaker hand.

The most interesting part of the sketchbook consists of portraits of little girls and maids, drawn from nature by the artist, wearing outfits and hairdresses typical of everyday's life under Louis XV.

Original binding, damaged, missing pages, stains. The book still contains the original label of the supplier Jollivet dealer, stationer ordinary to the King, Bussy street in Paris, active in the middle of the eighteenth century, at "the image of Our Lady."
