This carved oak element represents St John supporting the Virgin at the foot of the Cross. Another figure who is certainly one of the holy women holds her arm on the other side. The episode of the swoon of the Virgin is inspired by the apocryphal gospels. Its iconographic use fades from the Reformation on.
Lacks and erosion. Good substance.
